One of the agenda in the government's Nawacita program 2014-2019 is to build Indonesia from the periphery by strengthening the regions and villages within the framework of the unitary state. Rural development is of course based on policies that must be right on target. A good policy can be obtained if the supporting data is also accurate and reliable. Data needed include spatial or territorial data that emphasizes the potential data of an area to the smallest area of the territory (small area statistics). BPS is a data provider that can present the data by conducting Village Potential Survey (Podes).
BPS has been conducting Podes surveys since 1980. The Podes survey was conducted three times over the course of a decade, in the year ending in "1" to support the Agricultural Census activity, the ending year "4" to support the Economic Census activity, and the year ending in "8" to support the Population Census activity. Podes 2018 is implemented in all administrative regions of the village, kelurahan, nagari, Transmigration Settlement Unit and Transmigration Settlement Units that are still under the guidance of the ministry.
In this Village Potential Survey 2018, one of the objectives is to provide data on the existence and development of potential owned by village / kelurahan covering social, economy, facilities and infrastructure, village typology. Another goal is to provide supporting data for the Population Census 2020 activities, eg identification of new residential areas.
Enumerators and supervisors The 2018 Village Potential Survey that will carry out data collection has been trained by local instructors. Training is conducted so that enumerators and supervisors can understand the methodology, concepts and definitions that will be asked later to the respondent. In the training, the instructor also discussed with enumerators and supervisors to find solutions and tips in dealing with problems in the field, both technical and non technical.
Enumeration of Village Potential Survey 2018 (PODES 2018) was conducted simultaneously throughout Serdang Bedagai District On May 1st - 30th, 2018. BPS Head of Serdang Bedagai District emphasized that this data collection can give the general picture and potential of region / region in accordance with reality in the field. Officers are expected to conduct in-depth probing to resource persons to obtain quality data.
