Abstract
· Farmer Exchange Rate (NTP) is a comparison of the price index received by farmers (It) to the price index paid by farmers (Ib).
· NTP is an indicator to see the level of ability/purchasing power of farmers in rural areas. NTP also shows the exchangeability (terms of trade) of agricultural products for goods and services consumed and for production costs.
· In May 2024, the NTP for North Sumatra Province (2018=100) was recorded at 132.12 or a decrease of 0.90 percent compared to the NTP for April 2024, which was 133.32.
· The decrease in NTP in May 2024 was caused by a decrease in the NTP of four subsectors, namely the NTP for the Food Crops subsector by 0.79 percent, the NTP for the People's Plantation Crops subsector by 1.54 percent, the NTP for the Livestock subsector by 0.13 percent, and the NTP for the Fisheries subsector by 1.05 percent. Meanwhile, the NTP in the Horticulture subsector increased by 3.60 percent.
· The Agricultural Household Business Exchange Rate (NTUP) for North Sumatra Province in May 2024 was 132.48 or decreased by 0.79 percent compared to the previous month's NTUP.
